We don’t talk enough about America’s permanent ongoing saturation of “Stranger Danger” hysteria. It’s like this country’s whole social ecosystem teaches full grown adults to perceive an invisible army of rabid bogeymen lurking around every fucking corner. And it’s everywhere. Absolutely fucking everywhere, top to bottom, from true crime media and urban legends like the old Poison Halloween Candy thing to our sadistically rage-fueled, revenge-based justice system and immigration policies. The NRA and the war on drugs and post 9/11 airport security and mccarthyism and satanic panic and just E V E R Y T H I N G in America, everything that has defined its history for 100+ years is constantly nothing but this fucking FEAR TERROR FEAR TERROR for positively no reason. None.

Oh no there’s a reason

A populace that is scared votes for policing. A populace that is scared votes for more jails.

A populace that is scared does not form community.

A populace that is scared does not hold space and grace for others

A populace that is scared is easy to control

A populace that is scared does not particularly mind when the state chooses to surveil them, when the state takes their neighbors away, when the state reduces their rights.

people don’t remember this but in the early 2000s white brunettes and white blondes were treated as something even deeper than different races- they were seen as like animals of two different species locked in a never ending battle for dominance. they were like yin and yang- the blonde was pathos and the brunette logos. it was truly something to behold.

I used to have a shirt that said “blondes have more fun” that I wore while brunette and when random men would say “You’re not blonde” I’d reply “I’m also not having much fun”

I am so, so sure that my cousin meant to type something else, but I’m going to cry. Welcome to my bathroom themed bathroom… Pictures of other people’s bathrooms on the walls… Little bathtub figurines on the sink… Soap dispenser shaped like a toilet… Life could be a dream… in my bathroom themed bathroom…

Where I come from, we don’t worry about these fruity-tuity California style buds. Okay? I’m from Scranton. What i’m smoking is dirt. So lets get that straight jack. Pure brick. Ass. Okay? America- Americans are wanting to smoke that dirt, okay? You go up to someone and say, hey, I’m gonna give you a big bag of this heady bud, but I’m taking your stash of mids, they’re gonna say C’mon man! get out of here! *audience cheers* that’s right. that’s right. Get the hell out of here! We like stems! We like seeds! Where I come from.

Day 25 - Inferno

A shade emerges from ash.

I missed SO many prompts this week. 😭 My inktober momentum was on a good pace until mid-month…then all my energy (and ideas) evaporated. I blame sleep deprivation and a crazy schedule. I might try combining all the missed prompts into one illustration later.
